Elsie was born in California and grew up in Boston, San Diego and Houston. She attended a performing arts high school before becoming a model. After obtaining a BA in political science, Elsie worked for New York City elected officials and workforce development initiatives.

Elsie has a master’s degree in communication from Johns Hopkins University and writes about healthcare from the Upper West Side of New York City.
